How to watch for online scammers!
-
Use a breeder whose been recommended by some else.
-
Price is too good to be true. Avoid "free" pets or greatly discounted, which suggests fraud or a puppy mill.
-
Expect questions from the breeder. A reputable breeder will want a new owner(s) to know what to expect & want to know the pet(s) sold are going to be treated well.
-
Is the breeder a member of ACA or AKC?
-
Sketchy payment. Seller asks you to wire money or to pay with gift cards. Asking for payment immediately.
-
No phone calls. Seller only uses email. A reputable breeder will always communicate by phone and/or video (if they can't in person) before the sale of the puppy.
